ARCHON/MDM CHART OF ACCOUNTS DATA GOVERNANCE
Archon/MDM: CHART OF ACCOUNTS DATA GOVERNANCE SOFTWARE
Administering
the chart of accounts (COA) master data for an enterprise requires effective
controls for maintaining data integrity and standardization that are easy to
implement. These controls are often lacking in the ERP system, and this causes
the COA to become non-uniform resulting in erroneous accounts being open and
posted-to, duplication of accounts in different areas of the COA, and
inconsistent account usage.
Archon/MDM, from GL Associates, is a web based Master Data Management
system that helps companies manage their JD
Edwards, Oracle, and PeopleSoft financial COA across the
enterprise. The system supports the full lifecycle and integrates COA modeling,
change management, reorganization and remediation functions with each specific
ERP financial software.

Product Features
Enterprise
Business Unit Model Rules Generation
Archon/MDM generates rules for enforcing
integrity between natural account and business unit combinations based on an
analysis of a prebuilt matrix of existing Business Unit Models and Natural
Accounts. Ensure object and subsidiary accounts will exist only where
needed and will not be opened unnecessarily.
Account and Business Unit Maintenance
Archon/MDM issues master data maintenance
to the ERP Business Unit and Account Master Files upon demand or as
required. Automatically generate master data maintenance through an Archon-MDM API that validates accounts
against existing models and rules.
Automated Database Cleanup
Archon/MDM validates the account master
records against the set of model accounts and remediates inconsistencies, and
it will delete accounts that are found not to belong to the business unit’s
corresponding model, if the account is not posted. It will update account
attributes if they have changed, and will add new accounts to ensure higher
level reporting accounts exist in a business unit if subordinate accounts are
populated.
Change Management
Archon-MDM provides a foundation for
defining COA components and managing and auditing additions and updates to the
COA. Regulate COA master data updates and additions with predefined
change management workflow.
